Guns to Pens Project Partner: Afghan Australian Volunteers Association

Kabul University in Afghanistan is in desperate need of engineering textbooks and lab equipment. They currently have about 500 students enrolled in engineering, and are teaching with virtually no resources except a whiteboard.

EWB Monash has partered with AAVA in the "From Guns to Pens" project, seeking and sending donations of engineering textbooks and lab equipment to Kabul University.

We are seeking suggestions and assistance in all of the below areas, as well as assistance for the project in general.

Current aims of the Guns to Pens project:

1. Seek Out and Send Textbooks from:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Basic maths, physics, statics and dynamics textbooks
  • All textbook donations are appreciated, including old copies.

    2. Seek Out and Send Lab Equipment:

  • Hydraulic, physics and chemistry labs are all completely empty
  • All lab equipment donations are appreciated.

    3. Make an Assessment of the Faculty's Needs:

    A formal and thorough assessment has not yet been undertaken.
