Bio-Diesel
Monash University Grounds Vehicles will soon be powered by biodiesel, made entirely by the students in EWB on the Monash University Campus. Currently students are busy at work completing the design and testing of the Biodiesel Facility. Join up in this fantastic program and get a sense of real project management, and the benefits of renewable fuels!

Introduction
Monash Engineers Without Borders (MEWB) Biodiesel plans to design, build and operate a biodiesel plant to supply biodiesel to Monash University transport as well as surrounding business and public services. The intention is to locate the plant within Monash University. The MEWB Biodiesel plant will be established as a non-profit project and will be operated predominantly by volunteers of EWB Monash. MEWB Biodiesel hopes to partner with the Faculty of Engineering or the Department of Chemical Engineering for this project to ensure safe and responsible operation of the plant.
Current aims of the Biodiesel project:
- Design, maintenance and operation of a biodiesel plant on Monash’s Clayton Campus
- Targeted output of 10,000L of biodiesel per year
- Fuel to be used for fleet of Monash Ground Vehicles
- Could be used by the Chemical Engineering department for their undergraduate students in their course
